4 ohm speakers with 8 ohm AV receiver?

Your receiver will run hotter than normal, and heat is the enemy of all things electronic. Make sure that the receiver has space around it, and that none of its ventilation holes are blocked. Avoid running it at high volumes, too. Should the receiver shut down during use, then you KNOW that you are shortening its life considerably.
