Help to reduce scarring after an accident?

I had a cancerous growth removed this summer from my face and it left a big scary hole on my cheek so I asked the dermatologist about those creams like Mederma that are supposed to reduce scarring and she said not to waste my money because they are a big rip-off! Her advice was to just use vaseline for about a week or two and I swear within 2 weeks I couldn't even see where the growth had been. Try it, it's cheap and it works!!!
