Making alcohol at home-what to put in it?

Do NOT start with distilled alcohol, even if you live in NZ, where it is legal. Pick up a book by CJJ Berry on winemaking and follow one of his recipes. They are easy to understand and easy to make. I started with potato wine, made from the water used to boil potatoes. It also uses raisins, oranges, table sugar, yeast nutrient, and champagne yeast.
